Education and your Real Estate License
How Do I Check My CE Credits?

Log on to North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s website, www.ncrec.gov, using your license number and the last four-digits of your social security number

Select CE License Information to review credit hours at the top of the page(example below)
How Many Credits Do I Need?
All North Carolina licensees need 4-hours for either the General Update or BIC Update and 4-hours for any Commission-approved elective to maintain an active license. The annual deadline to complete the required 8-hours is June 10th.
*A BIC or BIC-eligible Broker who takes the General Update course and an elective will maintain an Active license but will lose BIC status/eligibility.
Do I Still Need CE if My License is Inactive?
Yes. If you are a licensee on Inactive status, you must still complete the CE requirements to avoid being CE deficient.
Is Me License Renewed When I Complete My CE?
No. Licensees have until June 30th every year to renew their license, despite meeting the CE requirements. A $45.00 fee must be submitted to the Commission by or on June 30th for a license to be renewed. Failure to renew a license will result in a license that is Expired, not Inactive.
